Beginning February 25th, 2026, Bandelier National Monument's Tsankawi Unit will temporarily be closed for a Trails and Visitor Improvement Project. Beginning Monday, March 2, K-177 will close for a bridge replacement from Council Grove to the U.S. 50/K-177 Strong City intersection. Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve will remain open but must be accessed from the south or follow the detour west out of Council Grove. K-177 thru traffic will be directed to follow the state detour on U.S. 56, U.S. 56/U.S. 77 and K-150. KDOT uses state highways for official detour routes for safety, weight and maintenance concerns. The restrooms at the Kris Eggle Visitor Center will be closed from the end of February until April for renovation. Temporary restrooms will be available in the visitor center parking lot. Visitors in need of more permanent facilities are advised to use those at the Twin Peaks Campground.
The park museum in the visitor center is temporarily closed for the installation of new exhibits. All other areas within the visitor center such as the welcome desk, theater, and bookstore will remain open during the project. The museum will reopen in the Spring of 2026.
The Denali Park Road is open to Mile 13, Mountain Vista. Wintry conditions beyond that point prevent vehicle travel, though pedestrian travel is permitted. Be prepared for winter driving conditions to reach Mile 13.

Most trails are open and ready for the public. Those that remain closed are the Charleston Road/ Goudey Trail past the Cherokee Path and the portion of Cherokee Path between the stockade fort and the Charleston Road.
Due to scheduled events, the Great Hall will be closed on March 14, 19, 20, 21, and 27. The Visitor Center Desk on the market floor will remain open.
Due to a construction project in the park, water will be turned off to all facilities from Monday, March 2nd to approximately Tuesday, March 10th. Portable restroom facilities will be available for use in the park during this timeframe.
Effective March 1, areas including Jordan Cliffs Trail, Penobscot East Trail, Precipice Trail, and Valley Cove Trail are closed to protect nesting peregrine falcons. The parking lot for the Precipice Trail is also closed. Rangers strictly enforce closures.
More info →The majority of the Loop Road is closed to vehicles. However, a 1.5 mile segment to vehicles is open from the Visitor's Center to Devils Orchard. The remainder of the road will open in spring 2026, weather permitting. Past Devils Orchard, the Loop Road is open to walking, hiking, wheelchairs, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing as weather permits. Please plan accordingly.

Mudslides in multiple areas of the Two Bridges Trail have prompted a safety closure. The Wall Street Trail remains in its normal winter closure. As a result, the entire Navajo Loop Trail is closed until further notice.
The Painted Desert Oasis gift shop, gas station and restaurant located at the north entrance of the park are open, and restrooms are available during construction. Visitor center operations are currently located at the Painted Desert Inn, two miles past the entrance station.
Starting November 20, 2025 the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center will be closed while updates are made to building systems. Front Desk operations including visitor orientation will move to the adjacent Fredericksburg Battlefield Bookstore. The Chancellorsville Visitor Center remains open to visitors 9am - 5pm all week.
